The Freelancing for Graduates online course

Are you a recent graduate looking to take control of your career and work on your own terms?

Do you dream of being your own boss and having the flexibility to choose when and where you work?

Are you ready to get into the working world, but want to graze at the freelance buffet to work out what you want to focus on?

Freelancing might be the perfect path for you.

But also, I know it all looks a bit terrifying, and sometimes you need someone to hold your hand through it.

"You took the fear out of the 'big scaries', especially when it came to the important bits around financing, contracts and insurances!"

Megan Seymour

From Graduate to Freelancer

Introducing the comprehensive Freelancing Course for Graduates, designed specifically to help you navigate the world of freelancing and build a successful career.

With my expert guidance, you'll learn everything you need to know to get started, from identifying your skills and interests to finding clients and managing your finances.

And because I have ADHD and can't bear boring lessons, I've tried to make this as quick and interesting as possible.

Expect gifs.

And templates to make it easier.

And hacks so you don't have to put on your hustle hat and burn out by the time you're 25.

Let's take the pressure off

Sometimes it can feel like the next move you make now as a graduate will map out the rest of your life forever.

  • What if freelancing could give you the opportunity to try out different things, work on your skills and make a decent income, without being locked into a graduate scheme?

  • What if you could start your career with flexibility, to work on further studying, to travel or simply learn how to work in a way that works best for you, while providing great results for your clients?

  • What if you could choose a career where you decide whether you work from home, or not?

In this course, I'll take the mystery out of starting out as a freelancer, so you can dive in and start your self-employed adventure!

"I definitely feel that I am walking away from this course with a solid foundational understanding of what freelancing can consist of and what my next steps will be."

About me

Hello! I'm Emma Cossey, a coach and mentor for freelancers. I started the Freelance Lifestyle to make freelancing more accessible and simple, with a mix of actionable tips, tools to automate the tricky bits and templates to get you started.

Here's what Megan had to say about the course

Frequently asked questions

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

Is this course suitable for my specific field?

Everything I share in here is a general approach to getting started as a freelancer, and should apply to nearly all fields. However, if you're not sure, feel free to drop me a message at hello@emmacossey.com.

I'm not sure if freelancing is right for me.

I wrote a little bit on my blog here about some of the benefits, but also how to tell if it's not for you :)

I'm worried about financial risks

I hear you. It's one of the reasons this course is so affordable - I want to help you get started with as few costs as possible! I firmly believe that freelancing actually spreads the risk, as you're working with several clients rather than putting all of your eggs in one employed basket. That said, I do talk in the course about the feast and famine cycle (and how to navigate it), pricing, chasing payments, pensions, insurance, taxes and more. I want to make sure you have as much information as possible.

I don't have a large network to find clients/I can't bear the thought of networking/ I don't use social media

Don't worry! I've covered lots and lots of ways to find clients, from PR and marketing on social media, to online networking and podcasts. There's an option for everyone to find clients.

Help! I have ADHD, and often don't finish courses

Hey, me too! So I added an audio feed you can listen through your favourite podcast app, made all the lessons super short and sweet, and have a Facebook group just for students if you need an accountability buddy.
